Seal Press

Seals used to be used to make an impression on melted wax on the a document, although modern seals will usually only leave an indentation or impression on the paper, although sometimes a red wafer is used to imitate old red wax seals.

This is a graphical example of a typical company seal after it has embossed the paper (Please note these company seals actually impress the paper, they do not use ink).

The company name usually goes around the circumference of the die and the company number across the centre.

Wafers greatly improve seal embossing on share certificates and official documents.
